Welcome to Wessex Transport Society website
The Wessex Transport Society was formed in 1983 by a group of tranpsort enthusiasts from the Bournemouth area, where it still has its 'spiritual home' and roots.
From an early beginning in the 1980s, we have grown to a membership of more than 250 in number, from all walks of life and we have members in Spain and even as far away as Australia!
Regular meetings are held during the winter evenings, (September until April), which take the form of slide shows and talks, with light refreshments provided during the interval, for which a small entry fee is charged to cover costs.
The Summer months (April to September) see members of the society enjoying days out to transport related venues and events, such as open days and bus rallies. These prove very popular and are organized at very reasonable costs too.
Membership of the society, which currently costs £15, includes the bi-monthly magazine 'Wessex Review'; containing news photographs and articles covering both local national and international topics of interest. This is very much regarded as the backbone of the society.
Now you know a little about who we are, where we are and what we do, feel free to wander around our website and visit the other sections.
